Gary has been a member of the Bellefonte Fire Department since he joined the Undine Fire Company 30 years ago, however, he has been involved in the fire service since 1985 for a total of 37 years. He is a life member of the Milesburg Fire Company in addition to his 30-year membership at the Undines.

Over the course of his time at the Undines, Gary has served as Company Chief, Deputy Chief, and Assistant Chief for 26 out of his 30 years. For the past 2 years, Gary has served as the Bellefonte Fire Department Chief with the responsibility of maintaining the relationships between the Logan Fire Company, Undine Fire Company, and the Bellefonte Borough. When asked why he joined the fire service, Gary said “both of my parents were involved in the fire and ambulance service and served as officers. A countless number of my family members were involved before me so it was just second nature to continue on and become involved myself”.
